The Lincoln Family Dedication

Mary and Harold Lincoln are now in their new, fully furnished, free, custom-built home, and we feel honored to have gotten to play a role in making that happen.

Harold, a disabled war veteran, and his wife, Mary, lived in their previous Waco home for 47 years before losing the home to extensive fire damage from an electrical fire in 2021. They raised eight children and made countless memories in that home while Harold worked in construction here in Waco.

We were beyond excited to have the opportunity to help not only a veteran, but also someone from our own industry to bounce back from such a hardship. We worked with H-E-B Operation Appreciation and Operation Finally Home to bring this new home for the senior couple to life.

Operation Finally Home provides mortgage-free homes, home modifications, and transitional housing to wounded, ill, and injured military veterans, first responders, and their families. H-E-B Operation Appreciation is a companywide campaign created to honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.

From breaking ground to writing notes of love and encouragement on the studs and structure to the dedication of the ready-to-move-in home, this project has been a special joy for BAM. We wanted to give the Lincolns a home where they could “age in place”, something we care deeply about in building all our homes. “Age in place” means that the home grows with you and can accommodate any future changes in your life, such as health changes or family moving in with you.

We’re especially glad to hear that the Lincolns are happy with their new home.

“The house looked absolutely perfect. I know that the Lincoln’s were blown away. I really appreciated Derek (Derek Rebber, BAM Builders Project Manager) and his never quit attitude,” said Ronnie Lyles, Operation Finally Home Senior Project Manager.

We look forward to future projects that allow us to support the community that has supported us over the years.
